The term "furniture restoration" is self explanatory. We
do a broader scope than most restorers (we think). Clocks, chests-- whatever needs to
be repaired and made beautiful again... Below are a couple of examples...
This hope chest is over seventy years old.
When we got the chest it was a faux antique green (sort of). Under the
green was blue- under the blue- white, and under that the woods you
see exhibited here... a beautiful walnut with birds-eye maple highlights.
Here is a turn-of-the-century buffet. Sometimes a particular piece
is left with certain "characteristics" that may show age or might show some
manufacturing defect that gives the article character. The span is so long
on this side board that the original manufacturer should have supported it in the middle
but did not. We left it "as is" and it has a slight sway on the bottom of the
cabinet.
This clock was purchased by the owner at a swap meet for
twenty dollars! It was in pieces- literally. I know these photos aren't the
best but I think you can tell this clock is beautiful-- and it had to have some major
restoration.
We do a lot of repair at Green Barn. We have worked on every kind of wood
product and many non-wood products as well. Veneer repair, new table tops or chair legs-
whatever you need is what we do!
